This replica of a 5th Century B.C. relief sculpture from the Acropolis Museum, Athens, Greece, was probably a horos (boundary stone) which marked the perimeter of Athena’s sacred precinct on the Acropolis. It depicts the goddess leaning in sorrow on her spear, gazing downward at the inscription on a funerary monument.
