The original of this statue is one of very few early works of Greek art to bear the artists signature. The inscription on the pedestal identifies him as the sculptor Antenor, unlike other Korai, this piece was carved from a single block of marble, including an extended arm, now broken off. The sculptor of Jasmine Hill’s reproduction has restored the nose and middle portion of the face which are damaged on the original.
